The ongoing Champions Trophy has sparked yet another controversy, and this time, it was an embarrassing mistake during the England-Australia match in Lahore.

While the tournament has been surrounded by debates since its start, including the issue of Pakistan’s logo being removed during the Bangladesh-India match in Dubai, today’s incident added fuel to the fire.

As England’s players lined up to sing their national anthem, an unexpected blunder occurred.

Instead of England’s national anthem,  India’s national anthem "Jana Gana Mana,” started to play from the loudspeakers.

It didn’t take long for the authorities to realize the mistake, and the anthem was stopped, quickly replaced by the correct one.

However, the damage was already done by then, the incident had already gone viral on social media, with the Pakistan Cricket Board receiving heavy criticism for the slip-up.

Despite the awkward situation, this mistake had zero effect on the England team.

They were sent to bat first after losing the toss to their fierce rivals, Australia but England got off to a strong start.

As of the latest update, they had reached 232 runs for 4 wickets in 36 overs, with Ben Duckett still unbeaten after his century at 117 and Jos Buttler at four.

After losing their openers—Phil Salt (10) and Jamie Smith (15)—early in the innings, Root and Duckett built a solid 157-run partnership.

Both England and Australia are in Group B, alongside Afghanistan and South Africa, with more exciting matches to come.
